WOKING’S Scott Cuthbert says the key to improving on last season’s fourth-placed finish in the Vanarama National League is for the club to find even greater levels of consistency.

Cuthbert, a linchpin in the side that handed the Cards their best league finish in 25 years, told the News & Mail: “It’s important that, as a group, we keep on improving on all aspects of things.

“Since I’ve been here, the club’ve been fantastic off the pitch, thanks to [chief executive] John Katz, [director] Drew Volpe and [director and general manager] Dave Curtis.

“I’ve got no doubt that it’ll continue to grow off the pitch, so it’s our job, as players, to make sure it keeps on improving on it.

“People will look at our league finish and think improvement would be third, second or first. But that’s not always the case.

“Next season, we want to be a lot more consistent than we were in 2022-23.

“There were periods of the season where we had dips, so we have to focus on being as consistent as we can.

“We know that we’ve got a good core of the group left from last season, and the gaffer [Darren Sarll] is adding to that.

“So if we can be consistent throughout the the season, we’ll have a fantastic chance of being up to the challenge come the end.”
