A CHOBHAM Scout leader is taking on all-comers in a 12-hour tennis stint to raise money for a cause that is close to his heart.
Ralph Risk is challenging people to play against him, in support of the village Scout group.
“Anyone can come down and play a set against me in exchange for a donation, a suggested minimum of £10,” he said.
“As a Scout and Cub leader, I have seen how Scouting can have a positive impact on children, raising confidence and providing an opportunity to try new things.
“The Chobham Scout Group is at the heart of the village and I want to help ensure everyone has the opportunity to get involved.
“The money raised will help with new equipment and funding trips and camps.”
The tennis marathon takes place from 8am to 8pm Saturday, July 1 at Chobham Tennis Club in Station Road. There will be a barbecue during the day to help keep the players and spectators refreshed.
“Scouting has helped millions of people over the years, but there are still thousands of young people on the waiting list around the country,” added Ralph.
“With support from the people who challenge me at tennis, perhaps some more young people in Chobham can enjoy new activities, make new friends and embrace new opportunities.”
Chobham Scout Group has meetings for girls and boys aged from six to 14, based in its headquarters in the village recreation ground.
Girls and boys aged between six and eight can start their Scouting life as members of the group’s Beaver colony, where they can enjoy some exciting activities.
Ralph has a target of raising at least £500 for the Scout Group.
