YORK Road Project is holding its summer quiz night at Woking United Reformed Church on White Rose Lane on Friday 16 June.
All proceeds from the evening, which also features a raffle and tombola, go to funding the work of the Woking-based homelessness charity.
“Our quiz nights help raise awareness and, of course, money to continue our vital work,” said Cherisse Dealtry, chief executive of the York Road Project.
In the year from April 2022 to March 2023, a significant majority, 73%, of those supported had a connection to Woking.
“During that time, 151 people were able to move through our 29-bed accommodation services, demonstrating the success of our organisation in providing a safe space and temporary housing for those in need,” Cherisse added.
“Some 65% of those who accessed our services have a mental health issue. This underscores the importance of addressing mental health concerns in the homeless population and the need for improved access to treatment and support services.
“And 45% of the individuals who presented to our services were successful in transitioning to alternative accommodation.”
Tickets for the evening cost £7.50 per person and can be purchased online at www.yorkroadproject.org.uk under the Events heading. The quiz starts at 7.30pm and finishes at about 10pm. Bring your own drinks and snacks.
