AN acclaimed teenage violinist from Boston in the United States features in a Soirees at Breinton daytime recital on Sunday, July 2.
Keila Wakao, 17, who won the 2021 Menuhin Competition, has already performed recitals in the US, Germany, UK, Japan and Singapore.
Keila, who took up the violin at the age of three, plays on a 1745 fine old Italian violin by GB Guadagnini on loan from the Florian Leonhard Fellowship.
Gordon Back, former artistic director of the Menuhin Competition, will accompany her on piano.
Their programme includes Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 5 in F, Op. 24 Spring, Bartok’s Rhapsody No.1, Bloch’s Nigun, Wagner’s Romance from Albumblat and Szymanowski’s Nocturne and Tarantella.
The concert is the last recital at Breinton in Heath House Road, Woking, until the autumn season begins in late September.
It starts at 3pm, and organisers Kumi and Lionel say it is particularly suitable for children.
