A WHITE collar boxer from Byfleet has ducked a ban for driving while using a mobile phone in Woking.

Brawler Stuart Laming, 42, of Oyster Lane, Byfleet, admitted driving an Audi on the A320 Chertsey Road when using a hand-held mobile telephone on March 31.

He was given six points on his licence, a £768 fine and ordered to pay £110 costs and a £77 surcharge to fund victim services when he appeared at Guildford Magistrates' Court on June 23.

But magistrates spared the boxing coach and fighter a driving ban because of "mitigating circumstances".

These were the impact a ban would have on the disadvantaged people he coaches, Laming's livelihood and infirm grandmother.
