A DARTS challenge held in memory of a much-loved member of a social club raised £1,500 for charity.
Sixty people signed up for a “flying pairs” tournament at Chobham Club, supporting Sue Rapley’s favourite good cause.
The entry fees and other proceeds from the event have been donated to the Chobham-based Quest riding for the disabled charity.
The darts pairs’ names were randomly drawn from a hat. They played games of 601 in a knockout tournament – with Sue’s daughter Georgia in the winning team.
“All of Sue’s family were there, along with many of her friends and a large number of members,” said club president Asa Brebner.
“Money was also raised through a barbecue, and lovely buffet food was provided.
“There was also live music provided by the band that Sue used to sing with, Sketch.
“Just over £1,500 was raised in total, which was fantastic.”
Sue, who was married to Ian and also had sons Louis and Harry, died unexpectedly at 56 in August last year.
At the time, £465 was collected in her memory and donated to Quest, which is based at Laris Farm in Windlesham Road, Chobham.
