POLICE appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision between a motorcyclist and van today (Thursday, June 15).

Officers were called to Smart's Heath Road, Mayford, at around 9am following reports of a collision between a white Toyota van and black motorcycle.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 50s, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by careless driving and causing death whilst being unlicensed and uninsured.

The road remains closed between Saunders Lane and Blackhorse Road while emergency services attend the scene.

Now police have urged witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage to come forward.
